April 1 – Monthly MeetUp

April Meet-up

Date: Wednesday, April 1, 2026 (I kid you not!)
Time: 5:30 – 7:30 pm
Location: Cooks Meadow (Meet at the Yosemite Valley Library/Girls Club)

Spring will be just 12 days old for our April 1 meet up. It’s so wonderful to be able to spend our evenings outdoors in daylight, and observing what each new season brings.

Possible Nature Journaling Explorations

  • April 1 is the night of the full moon (the Pink Moon). We talked about the possibility of journaling about the moonrise at our last get-together, and that is a possibility, but moonrise will be at 7:11, followed quickly by sunset at 7:21.
  • This will be a great time to notice the changing light as the sun sets during our gathering time.
  • There is always something interesting going on in Cooks Meadow.

What to Bring

  • Something to write with and on. Something to add some color with can also be fun. I’ll try to have some extra stuff if you forget, but a bit of printer paper and a pen or pencil is also just fine! The goal here is to slow down and observe the natural world around us, and put our insights and questions on paper.
  • Clothing layers. As usual in Yosemite, we’ll expect the temps to dip as the sun sets. We will have the option of retreating to the Girls Club/Library if it is truly chilly, but an extra warm layer or two will make staying outside more comfortable.
  • Headlamp. The sun will still be up when we make our way back to the nature center, but it will have just set by the time we are finished so you may want a light.
  • Your Curiosity and Wonder. The last thing on the list, but the most important.
