October 2024 Monthly Meet-Up

October Gathering Details

Date: Wednesday, 2 October, 2024**

Time: 5:00 – 7:00 PM

Location: Sentinel Parking Area – don’t worry we won’t hang out in the parking lot for long (!). Note: there aren’t any convenient chairs or tables here, so bring something to sit on if you like, or plan to make yourself comfortable on the ground.

** We updated our regular meeting times to the First Wednesday of each month in case people also wanted to go to Sals on Thursday!

Yosemite Falls may not be in its most spectacular incarnation right now, but there is always plenty going on in Cook’s Meadow, especially in early October as we start transitioning into autumn.

Join Us!

If you love spending time in the outdoors, slowing down to pay close attention to what is around you – If you love noticing and learning about the natural world around us, you’ll love nature journaling. You don’t have to be an expert naturalist, a brilliant artist, or a poet. Nature journaling holds space for plein air artists, writers, scientists, and people who are just curious about what’s out there.

I hope we’ll see you there!

Our ‘meeting area’ is at #1 on this map, but if you don’t see us there, look for us near #2 where hopefully there will be more shade.

What to Expect

Welcome/Introduction: I’m so looking forward to meeting all of you again! We needed an easy place to meet up, but we’ll quickly relocate to a non-parking lot destination to catch up, share experiences, and get situated. I have some ideas/journaling prompts with you to get us all started if you’d like – though of course you’re welcome to let your nature noticing take you in whatever direction you’d like.

Nature Journaling: We’ll have some nature journaling time. This will be a great season to explore all the changes that are happening as we move into fall. You can spend time with the group or wander off to find your own sit-spot.

Closing: An opportunity to share what we discovered and choose a location for our next meeting in November.

What to Bring

  • Nature Journaling Supplies – whatever you’d like to nature journal with
    • This could mean a sketchbook, pens, colored pencils, watercolors, and all the art supplies. Or it could mean a few pieces of paper and a pencil or pen.
