Hi there, Nature Journalers!
Thanks to everyone who came to the Briceburg Field Trip! It was such a lovely – and new-to-me – trail to explore with so many beautiful fungi (and some “disturbingly fleshy” ones), so many cool plants and bushes to peruse, and a fascinating shot-up rusty old car. I’d love to know more of the history behind how and when it got there!
For February, we are back on our regular monthly schedule, and we have reserved the Girls’ Club / Yosemite Valley Library as a quiet meeting location for the evening. (Big thanks to Linda for facilitating this for us!)
February Gathering Details:
Date: Wednesday, February 5, 2025
Time: 5:00 – 7:00 pm
Location: Girls’ Club / Yosemite Valley Library*
*Note: If the weather is nice, it would be nice to start out at the picnic tables behind the library, so take a peek back there too. If it’s pouring rain or snowing, we’ll be able to take advantage of the indoor space from the beginning.
What to Expect:
The days are getting longer, and we are back to having a bit of sunlight during the first part of our meeting time! (Sunset will be at 5:27 pm on Feb. 5).
Bring:
- Something to write with and on. I’ll try to have some extra stuff if you forget, but a bit of printer paper and a free pen from your favorite hotel/store is perfectly adequate.
- Something fun to observe.
- Pictures are OK too, but having a 3-D thing to peer at is extra fun. Please be conscious of Leave No Trace, but if you have an interesting found item that would be great. Since we have a bit of sunlight during our meeting that’s another opportunity to pick up interesting rocks, leaves, plant parts and etc.
- I’ve been given permission to bring a few things from the Interp department’s collection for us to look at as well if nothing presents itself to you. I’m always fascinated to find bones out in the world, so I was going to try to study some of their skulls/bones collections. Let me know if there is something that you are particularly interested in as well.
